This track is all about answering the big questions about why you want to be a filmmaker and what kind of stories you want to tell. Hear from industry guests and NFFTY alumni about their own artistic endeavors, and add your own voice to the conversation!

It is not a requirement to attend all sessions, but they are designed to all relate to and build off each other. You can attend a single session or all four! Space is limited for the workshops, be sure to register early.

WHOSE STORIES: EQUITY AND ACCESS - Presented by Northwest Film Forum and Full Spectrum Features
Tuesday, October 12 | 5pm PT

Whose stories are the ones celebrated? How do we move toward true representation, when all communities are authentically part of our cultural conversation? Hear from industry guests and NFFTY alumni who are working toward a more equitable and inclusive industry for all. Whether it's ensuring that women, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC creators have equal access to resources, or centering the needs of both creators and audiences living with disabilities, challenging the status quo results in both a better film industry and a better world.

This event will run for 90 minutes and requires active participation. This is a safe space and will not be recorded!

KEYNOTE: DANIELS
Thursday, October 14 | 5pm PT

Writing and Directing duo DANIELS (Swiss Army Man, Turn Down for What and more) interview each other the big hard hitting questions: "What's the point of making movies?"  "What qualifies you to make them?"  "Does storytelling make the world a better or a worse place?"  "Which Daniel is the better Daniel?"  This trailblazing creative pair probe the triumphs and pitfalls of making music videos, ads, shorts, tv, and film in the modern age.

WHY I’M A FILMMAKER - Presented by Hussian College
Tuesday, October 19 | 5pm PT

After hearing from our keynote speakers, NFFTY alumni will discuss their own journey of discovering what kind of artist they are -- and how they honed (and are still honing) their vision for their work. How do they view themselves: storytellers, content creators, artists, or something else? Join us for a roundtable that includes filmmakers working in different modes including documentary, narrative, animation, and experimental.

DEVELOPING YOUR ARTISTIC VISION - Presented by Vancouver Film School
Wednesday, October 20 | 5pm PT

Now is the chance for you to talk about your own artistic vision! Feel free to come prepared with a story idea for the workshop and get tangible feedback to move forward with. We’ll be grappling with the questions and themes throughout the Create track, such as: Why this story? Why are YOU telling this story? Why are you telling this story NOW? Exceptional NFFTY alumni will facilitate breakouts in documentary, narrative, music video, animation, and experimental. This is a safe space and will not be recorded!
