NFFTY’s 48 Hour Film Off
Make a movie in a weekend!
The NFFTY 48-Hour Film Off is open to high school students in the United States & Canada. Taking place over the weekend of March 7 - 9, 2025, students must write, shoot and edit a short film in 48 hours.
The winning team will receive $500 for your school’s media program.
Kicking off at 4pm PT on Friday, March 7 with participating teams receiving information about this year's competition restrictions and rules - including a line of dialogue, a prop, and other requirements to ensure authenticity. Final films must be received by 4pm PT on Sunday, March 9.
EDUCATORS:
Register here by February 21, 2025.
The cost of registration is $50 for a team. When a team registers, the participating team members receive up to 5 filmmaker passes, valued at $100 each. These passes will be good for full festival participation for the entirety of NFFTY, April 3 - 6, 2025. We know that many schools or programs may find the participation fee a hardship. We are happy to work with you on a case-by-case basis.
Your school may register more than one team, but only one team per school is eligible for the competition prize
If additional teams from an individual school want to participate, the representing educator must choose one film/team to submit for the competition. The additional films will be screened at NFFTY, but will not be eligible for the prize. There is a limit of 5 filmmaker passes per school for the 48 Hour Film Off (given to the team whose film is in competition). Additional passes may be purchased at a reduced rate.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Program Director, Amy Williams at amy@nffty.org if you have any questions or concerns.
The 48-Hour Film Off will be limited to a maximum of 15 teams in competition, so make sure to register to secure your spot!
